Not a shocker - I wrote an indictment of USA/NBA basketball in my Sydney pages. (Click the link on the left)...The NBA has become too much like college basketball....Too much emphasis on the coaches...too many reins on the players....it is like putting a harness on thoroughbreds....

Marquee Match-up part 1 - Phelps (USA) vs Thorpe (AUS) in the 200m semi-final...easy looking pace, the Thorpedo came in 1st , with Phelps coming in 2nd. Both their times were behind van den Hoogenband (HOL) who swam in the other semi...This sets up a superstar match-up in the finals tomorrow van den Hoogenband, Thorpe, and Phelps. Grant Hackett (AUS) who had the 5th best qualifying time is also a world record holder.
