Day    15

That darn delay - They are bombarding us with promos for the new shows this fall: "Call to Glory" with Craig T Nelson, Cindy Picket, and Elisabeth Shue; "Paper Dolls" with Alexandra Paul and Terry Farrell; "Jessie" with Lindsey Wagner ***

Superspy goes south - Matt Helm diving for Australia? Isn't he a little old?

What did they say? - MSNBC runs these little spots after commercials where groups of school children send some type of greeting. I haven't understood a single one.

Lookalikes - Argentinian Volleyball Player Hugo Conte and Boxer/Actor Jack O'Halloran (you might remember him as the big mute Kryptonian in "Superman II")

There are 150 million sheep in Australia. 19 million people.

Best boxing match of the tournament - Friday's Ricardo Williams (USA) vs Diomedes Luna (Cuba). Williams won 42-41 in a match that went back and forth all 4 rounds.

Indictment of the NBA - Lithuania's scaring USA twice is no fluke. The world is catching up to USA basketball because NBA basketball has slipped in quality. The current USA team is by no means a "Dream Team". In addition to missing some top names (O'Neill, Hill, Duncan, Bryant), the current NBA style has become too much like college basketball. It is low scoring not because of great defense, but because of bad offense. The world had already caught up and in some cases surpassed USA college basketball as evidenced by the 1988 defeats. The USA will need to send its best a la 1992 and that may not be enough in the future as basketball becomes even more popular around the world and teams keep getting better.

Costas quip- If France defeats the Americans, they will be dancing on the Champs de Elyses. If they don't, they'll still have wine. cheese. and pastry.

Costas quip - (after showing an interview with Marion Jones taped the previous night) "I removed the glasses, but slept in the suit"

***The above shows were promoted by ABC during the 1984 Olympics, in case you didn't' recognize them
