GUIDE TO THE GRADES A - Loved the movie or think it is a work of art.

B - Like the movie, but there are visible flaws. Maybe a guilty plasure.

C or below - Didn't like the movie either because it sucks or my own little prejudices were not overcome.

Rarely will I give a film an F grade overall because if you suckered enough people to get it onto the big screen, you deserve at least a D.

Hanks - A ....Excellent

Wilson - A+.... Flawless performance

The crash - A+

Helen Hunt - C.....Mannequinlike

Nick Searcy - C.....Unconvincing as a nice guy after watching him as an a..hole on "Seven Days"

FEDEX - B-......Only one of those packages actually got delivered and it sure the heck wasn't ovenight.

Crabs - D-....I hate seafood.

The guardian whale - B....Great presence, though onscreen time was pretty limited.


15 MINUTES

This is a violent, ugly, and mostly stupid movie, yet there is a relevance factor also. I give it high marks in its portrayal of media sharks and lawyers. The acting, plot, and production design are only so-so.

My overall grade B-

DeNiro, Kanakaredes, Grammar, and Brooks seemed to be sleepwalking........C-

Edward Burns and the two killers were good ......B+

Fires and explosions were mini-Backdraft quality...................A-

Blue-eyed red-headed girl...........A+

The media.............D-

Lawyers..............F (always)
