Day    9

Goofy - The US Mens Soccer team pretending to throw dice after they score a goooooooooooooal! Reminds me of the NFL.

Nihon gohana shi mas ka? - Andres Cantor pronounces Japanese names very well. It figures, since Japanese and the Latin languages are similar phonetically, just the writing is different.

More Andres - describing a couple of the USA men as the experienced, over-age players from D.C. United.

Costas quip - after a soccer highlight. In case you're wondering, that was a goal. Andres has a lung capacity that would make Pavarotti jealous.

Hannah Storm strike - that's a lot of chicken wire, after a feature about Australian Dingo Control aired.

Dingoes are not indiginous to Australia. It is believed that they arrived around the same time as humans.

Channel Surfing - FOX - This Week in Baseball- Revisit Kevin Mitchell (a terrible fielder) making a catch with his bare hand. "How About That"

Generous rower - Missy Ryan (USA) may be the first medal winner with one kidney. She donated her other one to save a life. Sorry I don't know the complete story.

Cuban Monster - Fear him. Alexis Rubalcab Pelleda. 6'8" 280 lb. Knocked his Greek opponent out cold with what looked like a simple jab. Fear him.

96 share in '96 - When beloved swimmer Kieren Perkins competed in Atlanta in 1976, 96% of all televisions in Sydney were tuned in.

Good enough for PBS - The story of ANZAC Day - April 25. It commemorates the Battle at Galipoli which began 4-25-15 where 120,000 people died (40,000 Allied mostly Aussies and Kiwis and 80,000 Ottoman Turks). This event put Australia on the map in world opinion. In 1934, the Turkish President who had commanded the Turkish Forces at Galipoli saluted the Australians and New Zealanders who died. In part he said, "Wipe your eyes you mothers of Australia...your children are in our bosom and they are at peace."

Patriotic hair - US Backstroker BJ Bedford painted her hair red, white, and blue for the medley relay. From that relay team, Dara Torres won her first Olympic medal about the same time teammate Megan Quann was born.

Big Ouch - Ahmad Rashad refused to jump off the 10 meter diving platfor after doing it from the 3 and 5 meter platforms.. Colleague Mike Adamle volunteered to show how easy it is. He fell backwards and belly-flopped resulting in a black eye and contusions.
