Skipper, captain or what?
A ship's master is the Captain, slang is skipper. However, the Navy has an actual rank of Captain which is equivalent to the Army's Colonel. The dress uniform has four stripes on the sleeves or on the shoulder boards. The khaki uniform has the eagle on the collar.
